Our Son Trevor is Engaged

Well it is official, our son, Trevor is engaged. After months of looking for the right diamond, then the right setting and having the right person do the setting. (It had to be perfect). Trevor finally proposed to his wonderful girlfriend Amanda.

"He did good"

He had all sorts of great plans for giving her the ring but Amanda has a job that calls her out all hours of the day or night. So they ordered in Chinese and during dinner he reached in his pocket got down on his knees and ask her to marry him. ( Isn't that the sweetest thing).
I knew he was going to give it to her during the Christmas holidays and I believe I was more excited and nervous about when and where than anyone. I kept asking have you given it to her yet or when are you going to give it to her. I know he thought "enough already". She was not expecting it for another few months.

Tony and I are so proud and happy for both of them. Amanda is the perfect girl for Trevor. I am so glad he waited for the right girl because Amanda is just the daughter in law any mother would pray to have. She is sweet, smart and beautiful.

Now I need a grand baby. I know I'm pushing a little but what a beautiful grand baby it will be.

How could you go wrong with these two beautiful people.

Congratulations Trevor and Amanda

We love you Both

"Elaine" My Massage Therapist and Post Polio Syndrome

Like many other children in the 1940's and 1950's I was struck with the devastating disease "Polio" .

Polio was virtually eliminated from the Western hemisphere in the second half of the 20th century. The most extensive outbreak occurred in the first half of the 1900"s before the polio vaccination, created by Jonas Salk, became widely available in 1955.

I was diagnosed with Polio when I was two years old. However, I was one of the lucky ones. I had a form of Polio called non paralytic polio. Even though the illness only lasted a few weeks, damage was done to the nerves. I did fully recover but developed post-polio syndrome(PPS) after more than thirty years. The damage done to the nerves during the disease caused acceleration of the normal, gradual weakness due to aging.

There is not much out there to treat post polio syndrome. My doctor told me to start an exercise program and find a good massage therapist. Well that is just what I did. I found Elaine Hauenstein of Natural Balance Therapeutic Massage in Roswell, Georgia. Elaine is not only my massage therapist but has become my friend. I have a standing appointment every two weeks. We have a great time solving the problems of the world during each one hour session. HA. I have been going to Elaine for several years now and my quality of life has improved 100%.

Elaine and Shannon

Shannon is another therapist in with Elaine

Below is a list of benefits from massage that are important to me:

Ease medication dependence.

Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body’s natural defense system.

Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.

Increase joint flexibility.

Lessen depression and anxiety.

Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.

Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.

Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body’s natural painkiller.

Taking part in this form of regularly scheduled self-care has played a huge part in my health.

Even if you do not have the problems that I have with Post Polio Syndrome massage is a wonderful thing you can do for yourself.

Budgeting time and money for massage at consistent intervals is truly an investment in your health. And remember: just because massage feels like a pampering treat does not mean it is any less therapeutic. Consider massage appointments a necessary piece of your health and wellness plan, and work with your therapist to establish a treatment schedule that best meets your needs.

If you live in the Roswell, Georgia area look up Elaine at Natural Balance and if not find a good massage therapist in you area. Believe me you will never find anything better to do for yourself.

My Nevada Sky

My Nevada Sky is growing up.
In December 2008 I did this blog post about my wonederful niece Nevada Sky, I just thought I would up date you on some more pictures and let you know what she is doing six months later.

She came over and spent the weekend with me a little while back and I taught her how to sew. The pictures below are of her in a dress that she made that weekend with my help. She did good!!!!! She is so smart.

I have named this post "My Nevada Sky" because it is about my beautiful little niece, Nevada Sky Zak. A big name for a little girl.
Nevada's mother's name is Star. Star is my sister Camille's oldest. When Nevada was born it was only natural her name would be something different. My family seems to like names that you don't hear every day.

We got the news this week Nevada will have a new sister or brother in nine months. I can't image what the next name will be. Whatever it will be something different and wonderful.

I am the luckiest lady in the world to be able to call this beautiful family mine.

I went to a fourth grade basket ball game today and had the time of my life.

You Laugh!!!

Well I am a little prejudice. Nevada is the little one wearing jersey #1. Just watching her run up and down that gym floor was a real treat.

She is the smallest one on the team. All of the girls are at least a head or two taller than she is, but that doesn't hold her back. She works that court like she was ten feet tall.

Her team mate, Courtney Goddard, #9 is her best friend and the daughter of two of my co-workers when I worked for AT&T. It was fun seeing Courtney's parents again after all of these years.

Courtney

Nevada and Courtney are two of the highest scorers on their team.

She may be little but she is not afraid to aggressively guard those taller girls.

I wish that little girl would get out of my way!!!!!!!!!

Boy, this has been a hard day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blow is a video that I took. This is my first so please excuse. Check it out if you have the time.

It shows how hard these girls work.

My Friend Lynne

At this time of the year we start thinking about what is important to us. Well that is why I wanted to tell you about my friend Lynne and how thankful I am to have her as a friend.

Lynne and I met about fourteen years ago at an Antique Mall in Alpharetta, Georgia where we both rented booths and sold antiques and collectibles. I still worked for AT&T at that time and Lynne was making her living in the antique business.

I really can't say when we became such good friends. I just know it seems like she has always been there. After a few years Lynne moved to Florida to be closer to her family. I really thought we would probably not keep in touch because so many people don't.

But we did and we do. We try to talk at least once a week and sometimes more. Two years ago I packed up my car with my sewing machine, all of my fabric, and embellishmemts and off to Florida I went. When I got there she had made this sign. And it was hanging on the chandlier in her dinining room. But now is hanging in my sewing room.

"Charlotte and Lynne' 1st Annual Sewing Marathon 2007"

For the next week we did nothing but eat, sleep and sew and sew and sew. She taught me things that she knew and I taught her things I knew. Ever since sewing has been my passion.

I want to introduce you to some of her creations. She sells on Ebay and if you are interested just click on the link below the picture and it will take you to her auction.

Shabby Victorian Lady Pillow

Chenille Cottage Victorian Purse

Patchwork Jacket Shabby

So I guess what I am trying to say is friends are so very important and we all need to keep them close and let them know every day what they mean to us.

Thank you Lynne for being my friend.
