Things in My House Thrursday April 2, 2009

I am running late today with my "TIMHT". I have been a little under the weather, as they say, for the past few days and I almost forgot. I would like to share a very beautiful pitcher and bowl that my friend Gayle gave me for Christmas several years ago. We owned an antique mall together and this beautiful pitcher and bowl was in one of our dealers booth. I saw it and fell in love, but did not feel I needed it and at that time did not have the money to spare. This was in July and when I opened my Christmas presents that December, there it was. All I could do was cry.

I don't know how old this set is. There are no marks. But it is hand painted black with beautiful pink roses. The bowl measures 16" in diameter at the widest and is 5" deep. The pitcher is 15" tall and about 12" in diameter at the bottom.

I will always cherish this beautiful set because of the love and thought she put into my gift that year.

Things in My House Thursday - My First

This is my first "Things In My House Thursday". I would like to share a piece of furniture that I found at a sidewalk sale a few years ago. It is a lovely piece and I have not been sure if it was a record cabinet or not. It is mahogany wood with a curved drawer and a reverse shell carving on the front with two mirrored cabinets on each top side and in the middle a cabinet with a glass door. It has full columns on each side. I think the hardware and knobs are reproduction and are replacements.

I am a member of "I Antique On Line" a great community of people who buy and sell or collect antiques, collectibles and art. There is a group within this group called "Whadja Find? Ask Us? Identification and Evaluation". I ask for help identifying this piece and received numerous opinions.

One member identified it as a silver cabinet. Suggesting boxes of flat or tableware fit into the slats and linens, napkins and table cloths in the top cabinets. And was kept in the dining room or butlers cabinet.

The majority of the members identified it as a sheet music cabinet with a curio top circa probably 1920-1930's.

It was suggested that I could use this beautiful cabinet to store photo albums and/or scrap books. I thought was a wonderful way to use it. So I am using it to store my daughter, Donna's, scrapbooks and picture albums from when she was a little girl. I lost Donna in 1982 and this was a great place for these items so I could enjoy them without having to dig through drawers.

"Support Our Troops Day" - March 21, 2009

My friend Mimi of Mimi's Rose Chenille Boutique is sponsoring a "Support Our Troops" event on her blog today March 21, 2009. I would first like to say "thank you" to Mimi for this wonderful tribute. Mimi's niece, Megan, is in Iraq serving to protect our country with so many other young men and women. I would like to say "Thank You" to Megan and all of our troops that are serving all over the world today and my husband, Tony Dinsmore, who served in the Vietnam war in 1968 and 1969 and to my father. William Lloyd Tennyson, Sr, who served in Germany in WWII.

I will be sending a special box to Megan to share with all of the troops serving with her and would hope each and everyone that is reading this post would join us in this special tribute to "Support Our Troops.

My New Twins Diaper Bag

My sister Camille cleans houses for a living and has so many wonderful clients. One of her favorites is expecting twin baby girls this summer. Camille called me the other day and said she wanted to do something for her client who has been very kind to her. Camille ask if I could make a diaper bag big enough for twins.

I wanted to make it big enough but not to big to carry. I also wanted to make it special for her. So I chose my favorite fabrics, the Barefoot Roses and Ava Rose collection by Tanya Whelan in pinks.

New Little Girls Fashion Collections- "Nevada Sky Collection" and "Vintage Linen Collection"

I would like to introduce my new line of little girls fashions and accessories. I now have two collections, the first I am calling my Nevada Sky Collection. This collection is named for my adorable niece who will be my model for all of these adorable outfits. I will be using the latest in designer fabrics. Many wonderful coordinating colors.

My second line I am calling "Vintage Linen Collection" these fashions are One-of-a-Kind dresses made with vintage linens, including pillowcases. All with the original embroidered designs. For the fabrics I am using pastel batiste and the latest in designer fabrics.

Spring Has Sprung in Georgia

Wow!! It has been so nice here in Georgia for the last few days. The average temperature for Atlanta is 44.8 degrees in the month of February. The high today is going to be 70 degrees.

We have been enjoying this beautiful weather for about three days now. The forecast is: Wednesday 67 degrees, Thursday 65 degrees and Friday 58 degrees.

My two little darlings Fluffy and Calley have been having the time of their lives. They are inside cats and only get to go outside when the weather is nice and my husband Tony can go out with them.

They know the rules, allowed to go outside by theirselves. Even it the door is open they won't go out unless they are told they can. They are not allowed off of the deck and they know it. Sometimes a squirrel with go by and they get excited and jump off. That's when they hear a "bang, bang" . That is Tony hitting the side of the chair with a "Fly Swatter". When they hear that back on the deck they come.

We are all enjoying this beautiful weather and getting spoiled. I know it will go back to the normal temperture soon. So I am going outside today.

This is a picture of my great niece Nevada Sky. She is wearing a dress that I made and wanted her to try on so I could get an idea of the size she would wear. She will be ten years old Saturday and most of her friends are three feet and more taller than she is. The dress she is wearing was made with a size 6 pattern and it was a little big . I am going to have to use a size 5 pattern to make it fit her.

She had just finished a two hour basket ball game that day. And she was really tired but was a trouper and tried it on for me anyway.

I am going to start a new little girls clothing line and Nevada is going to be my model. We are calling the new clothing line "Nevada Sky".

Isn't she just the cutest little doll? Well I think she is the best because she is mine.
